There could be the never-ending supply of articles on smart money management, budgeting and all this other important things you need to know to stay out in debt. But what about an article about expensive bad behavior? I know I have made a few in individual day - hindsight can be 20/20, right?

In the present week's column, I try out my costly mistakes but will hope that maybe you can study from them.

As a really frugal individual who has always placed a focus on smart spending, I think it's okay to splurge on such things as travel, art, and physical motion. Spending on hobbies but will interests usually doesn't get back to bite you in the butt. The things on the following list are more careless mistakes within inexperience.

Being Indecisive About College
Finding the perfect college is not easy, but if you put off the decision process, it is a major financial setback. After i should've been deciding on schools and getting scholarships, I was a lack of time fighting with my parents about whatever it's far teenage girls fight in his or her parents about.

I ended up choosing on the University of Missouri in absolute last minute which made me ineligible for scholarships I may have otherwise been able to dig up.

Mistake Cost: $10, 000

Not Predicting Travel Needs
I usually are a firm believer that buying plane tickets is an important game. Last year I was flying home like never before (I usually drive) and stupidly waited until one last second to buy flights.

As I slowly supervised prices climb, those "last-minute deals" never arrived at my rescue. I think you might find a break in pricing when booking a flight ticket last minute, but this is not the case using major holidays such this is because Christmas. Many flights are booked to people core, and the airlines fully understand they have you in the palm of their hands. My last minute wait cost us me about $200 on a I should've paid.

Another thing I didn't to take into account was weddings that forced my attendance. Although you might think like a strange thing to calculate, every 20-something should lower out travel expenses for when close friends are planning a wedding. I attended three weddings within just months of each slow, and I didn't be the cause of them earlier in the year. Because of this, I was to traveling for leisure and income that I should've put aside for wedding-travel expenses.

Mistake Solution: $200-$300

Getting A Tattoo
I i am a sucker for printer ink culture. I've always thought ended up cool, but there is an obvious fine line between trashy and maintaining cool - some may argue that you should all one or the other.

Unfortunately, I completed my duties transformation college-rebel stereotype and got a much more small tattoo of which I'm not the biggest fan. While researching removal debt I found that respite from my little tiny tattoo would cost about $400 to $600 an answer. As if this rrs just not expensive already, treatments typically take around 7 visits to finish.

I don't 100% regret my decision to possess a tattoo, considering I was a competitive big square my life and this is/was a small reminder will be rebellious also. Recently i wish I chose a less permanent treatment for rebel.

Mistake Cost: $2, 800 - $4, 200

Not Researching Dental Insurance Plans
When you happen to be young and in scholars, thinking about dental insurance is the last thing on your mind. However, I needed to wish for two root canals within a year of each other. Instead of taking you time to research affordable dental plans or discount dental services, I just went may possibly paid out-of-pocket. I learned later I could've used an online-business that cost $70 1 year and offered deep home sales to subscribers.

Mistake Solution: $1, 500 (the sum I could've saved).

Ignoring the rules of the Road
After seeking for license for four years void of tickets, I got two velocity tickets within a month of each other. I moved to Ny and sold my car convinced that I wouldn't have to worry about it again. Then, I was to getting a summons for biking on the web sidewalk.

Although no one intentionally have a ticket, people sometimes neglect to learn certain laws. Included in this are, my biking ticket; I had no idea you weren't allowed to bike on the web sidewalk - which in hindsight is wise. If you're moving with a city, make sure you brush up on the rules as long as you avoid getting arbitrary trademarks.

Mistake Cost: $300
